There are several great pubs we’ve found in Ripon town centre, these include: The One Eyed Rat, The Golden Lion, The Water Rat, The Storehouse Bar, SO! and The Unicorn Hotel.
The one eyed Rat, ripon
Distance - 10 min drive
Lovely friendly pub with a beer garden and heaters, great if you have dogs or kids as it’s fully enclosed. Best bit – they don’t serve food, but you can grab a takeaway and eat it in the beer garden. So long as you bin your rubbish they are happy.
The Golden Lion, ripon
Distance - 2 min drive / 15 min walk
This is a friendly traditional pub with the most stunning beer garden / orangery... trust me, it’s amazing. They do casual food on a weekend (scampi chips, Sunday lunch).
THE WATER RAT, RIPON
Distance - 10 min drive
This pub is on the stream where kids play in the summer, both dogs and kids paddle while you have a drink. The outside area is small, but the pub is glazed across the river side and you have views of the cathedral. They have a menu for food and it’s good. They also make a mean huge G&T.
THE STOREHOUSE BAR, RIPON
Distance - 10 min drive
A stunning bar with a vaulted ceiling, more of a wine bar with cocktails and sofas. They have a lovely casual menu of flatbreads, tapas, charcuterie boards. Dogs are allowed of course.
SO!, RIPON
Distance - 10 min drive
A great pub right in the centre, with tables that have self service beer pumps on them. Serving light bites in the bar (they do Poutine …yes chips, cheese and gravy). It’s always bustling and they serve blue moon lager on draft which is always a firm favourite of ours. They have a variety of seating, bar or restaurant and they do UBER eats delivery.
THE UNICORN HOTEL (WEATHERSPOONS), RIPON
Distance - 10 min drive
We have a Weatherspoons right on the market square and it’s actually ok. It gets very busy on race day mornings with people having a pint and a breakfast, it’s a lovely vibe. They also have a large beer garden (more like a beer car park, but it’s quite nice).
